Start getting your ideas done right now, not tomorrow.

A lot of people have been wondering: “How do you get better ideas?” The answer is – it’s all about eliminating the unproductive idea development principles.

We all know Bruce Lee, right? He was one of the most famous martial artists in history, and he had a way to deal with things. In his words:

“If you spend too much time thinking about a thing, you’ll never get it done.”

Years ago I invented 5 steps process which made my project’s ideas great in no time. I actually didn’t realise that I repeated the same process over the years. This is the first time when I am writing it down – so use it for your project development as well.

Remember that you can always start small. When I first started to write, I had a stack of old envelopes and sticky notes on my desk. The only thing they were good for was writing down ideas, so it worked perfectly. Every single little idea is important since it may be the only thing missing in the grand mosaic.

The initial idea will give you the power to start studying those who have come before and how they did. You’ll get all of their insight without doing any work – it’s like a cheat code for study mode!

Previous steps will build intrigue in you. You see that you are onto something you never expected to develop, neither someone else did in the same manner.

As a wise person said: A door slightly open is more intriguing than one completely closed.”

Some artists, like Henri Matisse, say you should just dive right in and start working regardless of whether or not you feel creative. The only important part is that what you are doing really matters to you–even if it’s a project that might not seem appealing or successful at first glance.

Bruce Lee was a man of many words, but one that always stood out for me is the claim that you have to be responsible for your actions. Sometimes you make plans to do something and then realize it’s not in your best interest. You don’t have to let late night at the computer rule your life; the rest will give you more power tomorrow. Or maybe this means that you will be late with the project work? Decide what is in your best interest and be responsible for your choices.

The most important step to success is to decide that you want it. It’s not enough to hope for something, or wait for your ship to come in – you have to work hard and make it happen!

Start.

Study.

Be intrigued.

Get inspiration.

Be responsible.

Don’t stop.

So, your first step is on the back of the old letter! (if you can still find it somewhere)
