You are developing your project for a few months, and as every project manager, you are asking yourself how evaluators will accept this application. Will they understand it? Or even, why they should even care about it?
It will help if you give them a reason. And in this article and video below, I will explain to you the power of the word WHY!
The power of the word WHY
How will you react when your kid comes to you and says – I want this toy?
Your first reaction will be a question: Why, why do you want this toy?
And the evaluators of your Erasmus+ project will do the same.
Unless …
Unless you answer the question before the evaluators will ask?
Hm…
First example
Let me give you an example. Listen to these two statements:
The goal of the project is to prepare the eLearning portal with 18 chapters on the topic of stress release for teachers.
And
We prepared this project because statistics clearly show that the level of stress of teachers is on the same level as the stress of the pilots of the fighter plane! (and you give the proof of the statistics).
Do you see the difference?
In the second sentence, I gave the reason for the project, and I also implemented the curiosity which is essential for the reader to read further.
When you say WHAT, you know what you will do!
When you say WHY you know the purpose and your words have more impact, information is better and you stand out from the crowd.
Second example
Let’s say we are describing the results of the project.
WHAT approach
One of the results is eLearning portal with 18 chapters.
WHY approach
We will develop eLearning portal because our analysis of teachers needs shows that teachers need quick and easy access to the content using the smartphone.
When you say WHY you will not arouse doubts in your explanation, but give a base for your actions.
You need to make foundations first and then build the house!
Third example
I can say:
On my website project-with-igor.eu I will post every week at least one video on how to prepare EU projects.
Or
I’m explaining in my videos what other project managers don’t like to tell you because they are afraid of competition. But I strongly believe in connected minds. You will maybe recognise me as an expert in the field and invite me to the workshop or your project.
The information is the same, but the impact of WHAT approach is much better.
Until next week,
Igor
